[Quartz reflecting floors, wall, and countertops donated by Loyce Youngblood].

General Description: This beautiful brown reflecting granite floor was quarried between Montreal and Quebec City, and was marketed as "Autumn Brown Granite" or "Newton Granite." The library floors, librarian countertops and an inset entrance wall contain significant quartz monzonite (possibly quartz syenite). and feldspar, producing a highly reflective appearance. The dark brown floors provide the perfect contrast to the cream-white, fossil-rich limestone hallway and entrance walls.2

1 Estimated by traditional Uniformitarian concepts (gradual, uniform changes   over great periods of time, believed at rates similar to those observed today).

2  Compare floors with Fossiliferous Limestone entry walls and hall, Page 13.
